Rumours are afloat that Akshay Kumar has turned down the offer, and a Tamil star would be playing the lead in director Balki’s next titled Padman — a biopic of Coimbatore-based Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who developed an innovative sanitary napkin machine that produced quality products for women at the lowest cost in the world.
Giving everybody a glimpse of all his 2017 releases, Akshay shared the names of his films on Twitter, which are Jolly LLB 2, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, 2.0 and Padman.
But it seems like Padman is not really an Akshay Kumar film. Yes, you heard that right. The movie is Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s maiden production under her new banner Mrs Funnybones Movies and is the biopic of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who made sanitary napkins.
The film will be helmed by R. Balki and will showcase Arunachalam’s journey of finding a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village. When Akshay shared the poster of the film, everybody thought that the actor will be playing the lead role in his wife’s film, but it’s not the case.
